#3 Latches & Catches

In industrial hardware, latches and catches are mechanical fasteners used to keep doors, panels, lids, and drawers closed while still allowing them to be opened without damage.Latches are holding mechanisms that use a movable element (such as a clasp, hasp, lever, or cam) which engages a keeper or strike on the mating surface; they require a deliberate action (lifting, turning, or pressing) to secure or release the closure, and are common on industrial cabinets, machine guards, and access panels where a more positive, sometimes high‑tension closure is needed.Catches hold doors or panels closed using forces such as magnetism, springs, friction, or ball/roller mechanisms instead of a pronounced moving clasp; they release simply by pulling or pushing the panel, and are widely used where frequent access is needed without a full latch or lock, from light industrial cabinetry to heavier doors when designed with higher holding force.
