Snap Fasteners (Snap Studs, Snap Caps, etc.), ASTM A574
In industrial hardware, snap studs and snap caps are the mating pieces of a snap fastener set used to create quick‑release, repeatedly openable attachments on fabric, vinyl, leather, and thin panels. Snap studs are the male posts or heads that mount to a base (like a panel, frame, or deck), while snap caps are the visible female tops that clinch through the material; when pressed together, they “snap” into a secure mechanical lock that can be pulled apart by hand without tools.
