Press-Nut, Copper

Broaching Style Threaded Inserts, Press Nuts, Swage Nuts are a type of Self-Clinching Insert Nut, but the clinching mechanism is different. These inserts provide a permanently attached strong thread in non-ductile materials such as printed circuit board, polycarbonate, acrylic, glass epoxy and resin laminate components, and also in light sheet metal. While these are more correctly a type of Internal Threaded Inserts, since their purpose is to provide a threaded anchoring place on a sheet material, they are frequently called Nuts because they have an internal thread. The Broaching Style Self-Clinching Insert is installed by forcing the clinching ring into a softer material, with an arbor press or by tightening a screw through the hole, causing the material to plastically deform (swage) into the annular recess in the shank of the Press Nut.
