An electrical fuse is a safety device designed to protect electrical circuits from overcurrent, which can result from short circuits, overloads, or equipment failure. The core component of a fuse is a thin metal wire or strip—typically made from materials with a low melting point, such as tin, lead, or an alloy—that is intentionally placed in the circuit as a weak point.When the current flowing through the circuit exceeds the fuse’s rated value, the heat generated by the excessive current causes the fuse element to melt. This melting action breaks the circuit, stopping the flow of electricity and thereby preventing damage to the circuit or connected devices, and reducing the risk of fire or electrical shock. Because the fuse operates by sacrificing itself, it must be replaced after it has blown
