A straight line clamp, often referred to as a straight line action clamp or push/pull clamp, is a mechanical clamping device designed to hold workpieces securely by moving a plunger or shaft directly in and out along its axis. The primary action is a straight, linear movement—either pushing or pulling—to clamp or release the workpiece.A vertical clamp—most commonly referred to as a vertical toggle clamp or vertical hold-down toggle clamp—is a mechanical device designed to securely hold a workpiece in place, typically during machining, welding, assembly, or woodworking operations. The defining feature is a handle that locks in an upright (vertical) position when clamped, providing a strong, quick-action hold-down force.
