Gaskets
In industrial hardware, gaskets are deformable mechanical seals placed between two mating surfaces (such as flanges, covers, or housings) to prevent the escape or entry of fluids, gases, dust, or contaminants. When compressed by bolts or other fasteners, the gasket fills microscopic surface irregularities and gaps, creating a tight seal that can also reduce vibration and cushion or protect components in piping systems, machinery, and equipment assemblies.
