Grommets & Eyelets

In industrial hardware, grommets are rings or bushings fitted into holes in panels, plates, or fabric to protect whatever passes through the opening (such as wires, cables, hoses, or ropes) from abrasion, cutting, or vibration, and to reinforce the hole so it does not tear or wear out prematurely.Eyelets are small metal or plastic rings flared or crimped into a hole, mainly to reinforce the opening and provide a smooth, durable bearing surface for cords, laces, hooks, or fasteners; in many industrial and textile applications, eyelets and (certain types of) grommets are functionally similar, with “eyelet” more common for lighter‑duty or decorative uses and “grommet” for heavier‑duty protection and reinforcement.
